Are you interested in the electricity sector?
Are you training to work in this field, changing careers or already working? It is normal to ask yourself questions, because the world is changing rapidly.

Is the electricity sector promising?

Electricity sector

The electricity sector is undergoing major changes but remains very promising: we live in a world where everything is electrified. The current and future needs, as well as the innovations of cable manufacturers, ensure the sustainability of employment in this sector of activity.

The health crisis has brought out a real need to do a job in line with our values. The rate of professional reconversion has never been so high. However, the chances of a successful career change are enhanced by training: The state has reinforced its vocational training programme. The building, construction and IT sectors are experiencing a high demand for recruitment.

Learn more about this:

Home automation
Born from the miniaturisation of electronic and computer systems, and aiming to bring more comfort and security to the home, home automation is booming. We speak of "connected house", "intelligent house", "home automation", "smart building". Home automation did not become widely available in France until the year 2000. For a long time too expensive and not very accessible, it is now part of our lives. VDI networks, surveillance cameras, remote control of home appliances, programming of household appliances, monitoring of consumption: home automation can go hand in hand with energy saving.

Communication networks
The home has been changing constantly over the last few years, in line with the global evolution of our society. Internet, digital TV, connected objects, the home of the future is being shaped according to our needs. Society makes daily use of social networks, websites, e-commerce, video and video calls. Our office and home infrastructures are being provided with new services through communication networks, which requires appropriate facilities. Devices are becoming more powerful, and the way we think about our infrastructures must be adapted.

Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is the fight against online threats, but not only: protection of personal data, computer security, data storage, are also linked to this field. The cybersecurity professions cover several aspects: the management of electronic security systems and information systems, the management of digital and IT solutions with artificial intelligence. Cybersecurity requires anticipating the threat and rethinking prevention via alerts. We are moving towards the creation of an intelligent territory, where the world develops online. This is a sector of the future, where training and recruitment are fundamental issues.

Energy transition

The world's population and the demand for electricity are increasing. It is estimated that demand will double by 2030. To meet this demand while guaranteeing the future of our planet, energy consumption must change.
This is where the energy transition comes in: carbon neutrality, energy mix, green energy, etc.

You, electricians or future electricians, have a strong role to play in this transition.

The electricity and building sectors are very promising! After the first waves of the health crisis, the sector has gradually recovered and construction work has resumed.
Construction and works planned for 2020 have accumulated for 2022 and the years to come. The changes in lifestyle, caused by the health crisis, have accelerated the demand for home automation and installations, as the home has become more than just a place to live. The state is also putting in place aids for certain constructions in favour of the energy transition, which should increase the demand.
